Who’s losing out in this sputtering economy?
Not corporate CEOs. Too many of them have made sure to secure a golden parachute for themselves, while workers face soaring health care costs, foreclosures and an uncertain future.
The Employee Free Choice Act would help level the playing field and get our economy back on track. That’s why we’ve launched a huge campaign to get 1 million people to support this bill and tell Congress it’s time for change!

McCain "In Lockstep" with Bush
Sen. John McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee, went to New Orleans this week to launch his general election campaign. He used the national spotlight to try and distance himself from George W. Bush, the most unpopular president on record, whose policies McCain consistently has supported. In 2007, McCain voted 95 percent of the time with Bush and 100 percent of the time in 2008, according to the AFL-CIO Congressional Voting Record.
In more private moments, McCain has admitted he's just like Bush. And he's accepted Bush's endorsement and his fundraising help. When it comes time to vote on real policies, McCain has stood with Bush on everything from children's health care to retirement.

Bush Budget Spends 100 Times More to Regulate Unions
According to a report by the Economic Policy Institute (EPI), President Bush's Fiscal Year 2009 budget request for the Department of Labor is dramatically out of balance.
President Bush requested $58 million for Office of Labor Management Standards (OLMS), which oversees 23,000 unions and union locals with 13 million members. He requested only $193 million for the Wage and Hour Division, which oversees 7.4 million employers and protects 150 million employees by enforcing a host of labor standards, including child labor laws, overtime rules, and the Family and Medical Leave Act, among others.
In terms of dollars per regulated entity, the OLMS budget is $2,500 per union and union local. The Wage and Hour Division budget is only $26.08 per employer. President Bush wants to spend almost 100 times more per union to make sure they comply with the law than to make sure employers comply with the law.
